Transmission Replacement

This is SP5 Cox replacing the transmission in a 174th helicopter. The "cat-whiskers" FM antenna on the nose and the nose-mounted pitot tube would indicate it is either a UH-1D slick or a UH-1B gunship. The equipment attached to the helicopter on the left of the photo appears to be attached to the bomb-rack where the rocket pods are normally attached on a gunship, but your friendly webmaster can't identify it. Who can help solve this one and positively identify the equipment and the aircraft? (Photo by Ted Saunders, Lane AHP, 1966)
