REUNION INFORMATION

We had a great reunion last year and, with your support, this year will be even better.

We will again be staying in the BEST WESTERN BEACH FRONT HOTEL. It features the Tiki Bar and an inside bar--The Swizzle Stick Lounge. (A few of us closed that place down a couple of nights in a row last year.) There is also a swimming pool and nearby is a Waffle House for breakfast. A short jaunt will also get you to a great lunch eatery. Hotel rooms have two queen-size beds, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee-maker, in-room movies and a computer port. Inland rooms are $55 each. Beach-front rooms have a private balcony and are only $10 more. The hotel also provides a courtesy Continental Breakfast. Call early to make your reservations.

I must add, based on my personal observations and feedback from last year's attendees, the hotel is also blessed with a great staff of courteous, friendly, and helpful employees who are anxious to make our reunion an enjoyable and memorable event.

A fishing trip is being chartered for Saturday, but we will not be counting on your "catch of the day" to feed all of us that night--a lesson learned the hard way last year. Other events being considered at this point are a Dolphin cruise, Gulf boat ride, or a visit to the naval air museum in Pensacola for those who want to "car pool" it there on your own. A sign-up sheet will be available on your arrival to help coordinate auto travel with others.

Caps with the unit patch will be presented to each registered member and spouse/guest attending the reunion. Additional caps may be ordered, baseball or floppy roll-up type, for $11.00 each. All caps are blue. Golf shirts can be ordered if two dozen or more people want them. Be sure to indicate your preferences for those items and events on the form.

Call 1-877-243-9444 toll-free for room reservations and ask for Peggy Mahone. Tell her you are with the 174th reunion to get discounted rates. You can also FAX (850) 243-5445. Include your phone number. E-mail is: bw-beach@nuc.net. You will need to give your credit card number. Be sure to tell Peggy if you want to go fishing. The price will depend on how many want to go but will be about $100 to $125 per person. A minimum of seven are required. If there are not enough people signed up to keep the cost reasonable, then Peggy can arrange for you to go on a regular party boat for $35 to $50 each. The Dolphin cruise is about $15.00 each. And, don't forget the swimming opportunities in the hotel pool or the Gulf, weather permitting.

A bar-b-que dinner is planned for Friday evening at the hotel. The cost of that meal is included in your registration fee. A seafood dinner will be catered Saturday evening, also at the hotel. The cost is $17.00 per person, payable with your advance registration.

Be sure to complete the Registration Form and return it with your check, payable to: 174th AHC Assn. All checks will be promptly deposited in the association's account with the Army Aviation Federal Credit Union, Enterprise/Daleville, Alabama. Please return your completed registration form and check, by September 15, 2000, to: Bernie Cobb, Secretary/Treasurer, 174th AHC Assn, 16098 Highway 167, New Brockton, AL, 36351.

Also included is a ballot for the election of new officers. Those elected will be installed at the reunion but officially take office on January 1, 2001. The names of those shown have been duly nominated by a member and have agreed to serve. There is a blank space for each office so you may write in another candidate's name if you so desire. Please make sure, if you choose to vote for someone else, that your candidate wants to fill that office and agrees to serve in the office to which he might be elected. Only those who are current dues-paying members may vote for a candidate or be elected to an office.

Do not direct any materials or questions associated with the reunion or election to Ted Saunders, President, at Mary Esther, FL. Ted is away from home most of the time because of his tour bus business, and will not be available to answer questions or process registration forms, ballots or checks. If you have any questions, please direct them to me either by regular mail, e-mail shark6@snowhill.com, or telephone: (334) 894-6458.

Thanks for your continued support of our fine organization. See you in October.
