The Pentagon announced today that the procurement of a new weapons system that promises to protect our urban areas into and throughout the next millennium.

This weapons system was developed by a conglomerate of defense contractors after many years of studies, delays, and cost overruns at the expense of the American taxpayer.

The prototype is finished and ready for testing. This weapon system is being called:

Y2K-UDV-2000
(Urban Defense Vehicle)

THE URBAN SHARK

This vehicle is very versatile and can perform many functions if the add-on systems are procured for it. Some of the functions that can be performed by the Y2K-UDV-2000 are as follows:

SUB-SYSTEM Y2K-UDV-C: The Circular Rotating Cutter -- This sub-system will clear the tall vegetation in and outside of your perimeter so that you will have a clear field of fire.

SUB-SYSTEM Y2K-UDV-D (not shown): The Chemical Dispensing System -- This sub-system has many uses. In the event the enemy has tunneled into your perimeter, you can use this device to spread defoliant over the area to kill the vegetation to expose the tunnels. After a thorough cleaning, this can also be used for an extra fuel tank for extended range.

SUB-SYSTEM Y2K-UDV-A: Armament M-60 Machine Gun -- This sub-system has been proven in many conflicts and has been adapted for use on this vehicle. It can be used mounted or unmounted.

SPECIFICATIONS:


HEIGHT: 36 inches

WEIGHT: 200 pounds (unarmed)

LENGTH: 4 feet (without added systems)

FUEL RANGE: 10 miles and 3 hours (unlimited with extra fuel tanks)

CUTTING AREA: 42 inches

ENGINE: 12 horsepower B&S

AMMUNITION: 7.62 mm (as much as you can carry without stalling the engine)

PAINT SCHEME: O.D. green (with special marking obtained from the very famous unit of the Vietnam War, the gun platoon of the 174th Assault Helicopter Company, the SHARKS)

DRIVER/OPERATOR: The driver/operator of this vehicle must be highly skilled and trained, and have had at least one year's experience in combat in Vietnam. He must be skillful in all systems of this vehicle and be able to shoot with one hand and throw hand grenades with the other (while keeping control of the vehicle in forward motion). He must also be skillful in observing enemy tunnel complexes and infiltration of his perimeter and area of operations (AO).
